Challenge

Challenge

The Hitachi Young Leaders Initiative (HYLI) was launched in 1996.

Since then, the team has been relying on traditional avenues to attract student leads and encourage applications. They would reach out to individual schools, ask students to submit essays and shortlist them on the basis of that.

For the HYLI 2019, they realized they needed to try harder. They needed a stronger marketing strategy in place to create awareness about the event and attract applications.

That’s when they reached out to us at Brew Interactive.

Solution

Brew Interactive was brought onboard to attract a higher number of applicants in a cost-effective manner while driving engagement for the HYLI 2019 which was held in Singapore in July.

The idea was to develop a marketing and communication strategy such that the program appeals to their target audience and encourages them to apply.

The most effective way to do that and reach their target audience was to leverage social media and that’s what we did.

We created highly engaging content to create awareness about the program, spike interest and drive applications. The content was in line with their theme of the year – Digital Transformation for a Sustainable Future.

From sharing useful application instructions and inspirational content to alumni stories and countdowns — our strategy was focussed on generating buzz and driving excitement.

It did not stop there. Apart from building hype and generating applications prior to the event, we also created content during and after the event to strike conversations and keep candidates informed. We continued to engage them with compelling stories and event details.

Results

Our social media strategy proved to be successful. Not only were we able to drive over 850 applicants but we also helped them achieve a 107% increase in event engagement rate by leveraging storytelling and sharing engaging content.
